Emma (Novela / A Novel)

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION
One of Jane Austen's boldest novels.
Emma Woodhouse, the daughter of a wealthy landowner, moves to the small town of Hartfield. Bored with her placid life alongside her father, she will dedicate herself body and soul to her favorite pastime: matchmaking among her acquaintances and playing with their lives at her whim. Only George Knightley will be able to confront Emma and harshly criticize her behavior, sparking a delightful struggle between the two.
"In Emma, we perceive muffled echoes of an intimate drama that good manners prevent from manifesting more clearly. That simple, elegant, natural prose has a deceptive transparency; its clarity suggests it contains nothing more than what we see, and it modestly conceals secrets that have continued to intrigue its readers."
