Some prisons are built of stone. Others are made of souls. When the ancient Watchers are released from their long banishment, the balance between Heaven and Hell begins to unravel. Their king, Abaddon, remains imprisoned, but his followers seek a new vessel through which to rise again. That vessel is Tristan Gao.Drawn into a hidden war waged beneath the surface of human history, Tristan becomes the unwilling link between the divine and the damned. As he searches for Sarrafin, a woman bound to the same dark prophecy, Tristan uncovers a truth buried since the crucifixion: the council of Heaven has splintered, and mankind was never meant to bear the weight of divine rebellion. Now, caught between angels who fear him and demons who crave him, Tristan must decide whether to destroy the darkness within or unleash it.Because the only thing more dangerous than being chosen by Heaven...is being needed by Hell.
