The Harpy

- The highly anticipated second novel from the award-winning author of The End We Start From, The Harpy is a darkly suspenseful domestic drama that is part revenge tale, part fairytale, and examines the fallout from a husband's affair and the conciliatory pact his wife makes with him-that he will allow her to hurt him three times.

- Blending hyper realism with magic realism, Hunter's narrative takes a bold new look at the effects of toxic masculinity, the demands of motherhood, and what it means when enough really is enough.

- Hunter's profile here is very much on the rise. The End We Start From, which Grove published in HC in November 2017, came second for the Barnes and Noble Discover Prize, won the Foreword Reviews Editor's Choice Award, was longlisted for the Aspen Words Literary Prize, was a #1 Indie Next Selection, an Indies Introduce Selection, a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers Selection, an Amazon Best of the Month in Literature & Fiction, and a Belletrist Book Club Pick

- The Harpy will appeal to fans of domestic and marital dramas with a vengeful twist such as The Vegetarian by Han Kang, The Dry Heart by Natalia Ginzburg, Days of Abandonment by Elena Ferrante as well as the work of edgy, dark, feminist writers like Ottessa Moshfegh and Oyinkan Braithwaite.

- In our current political climate, revenge narratives told from a woman's perspective are in the spotlight, with pieces on their popularity featured in the Guardian, Electric Lit, Bustle, and Crime Reads.

- Hunter is a writer's writer and has earned fans in Tracy Chevalier, Naomi Alderman, Sinead Gleason, Jim Crace, and Emily St. John Mandel to name just a few. The End We Start From was lauded by major critics on both sides of the Atlantic. We expect an equal outpouring of love for The Harpy.

- Picador UK will publish in May 2020 and Grove will follow in August.
