Men Like Gods

Men Like Gods is H. G. Wells' utopian science fiction novel exploring parallel worlds, social evolution, and the possibilities of human progress. When a group of ordinary Englishmen are suddenly transported into an alternate universe, they find themselves in Utopia-a peaceful, highly advanced society free from war, poverty, and coercive government. In this parallel Earth, humanity has outgrown nationalism and material greed, achieving a civilization grounded in education, scientific reason, and individual freedom.Yet Wells does not present Utopia as simple wish fulfillment. The arrival of twentieth-century visitors introduces tension between evolutionary advancement and entrenched human habits. Through debate and conflict, the novel examines whether humanity can consciously choose progress-or whether fear and aggression remain too deeply embedded in its nature.Blending speculative science fiction with philosophical inquiry, Men Like Gods reflects Wells' long-standing interest in social reform, world government, and the trajectory of civilization. It remains a significant entry in early utopian literature and a revealing expression of Wells' mature political thought.Explore other exciting Positronic Books devoted to classic science fiction, fantasy, and mystery.
